It's a startling fact that no one wants to believe, but cancer, however, is a big deal. That's why stars came to support the Stand Up 2 Cancer( SU2C) event on September 7.
Among the stars that supported the show, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Alicia Keys, and Coldplay performed at the show, which aired on NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX.
SU2C shows started May 27, 2008, with three shows since. Since the September 7 show, $81 million dollars has been raised. This money funds 350 scientists in 60 institutions.
Among the performances, Taylor Swift debuted 'Ronan', a song she wrote for a little boy who lost his battle with cancer last May. Swift got the inspiration after reading his mother, Maya's, blog. Swift credited Maya as co writer for the song.

After the show, the song was released on iTunes, with all the proceeds benefiting the cancer foundation. It immediately went to #1 after the show.
This song touches everyone, and I think it was a beautiful way to remind people of the things we take for granted. This song gives hope that together we can stand up to cancer. A simple song can move people to take action, and I hope it does.
Leaving a Legacy Challenge: Despite the crazy, stressful world we live in, be thankful through it all. Going to school, eating lunch with your friends, and being involved in an extracurricular activity are all blessings that I hope we never take for granted. Lastly, continue to pray for people affected by cancer.
"Whatever happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind."
~Taylor Swift

Living in a fast paced life, it's so easy to forget your priorities and the things that truly matter. The little things are often the very things we forget that are so precious in life.
ReplyDeleteI realized just today that I am not nearly thankful enough. It's important that we appreciate what we have, while we have it. "Life's a gift and I don't intend on wasting it" (Titanic).
